There are 10 daily Surat Thani to Bangkok train services to
Hualamphong railway station with the duration of the trip taking between 9 to 12 hours to travel the
651 km distance and tickets costing between 217 THB for a 3rd Class seat to
over 1500 for a 1st Class sleeper berth.
If you want to take the train from Surat Thani to Bangkok you first have to get to the Surat Thani Railway station which is actually located in Phun Phin, around 15 kilometres away from the city centre.
As most people using the station will be coming off one of the many
ferries from Koh Samui, this is not a problem as there are many buses
that operate from the ferry ports to the train station and you can even
buy all inclusive tickets for the ferry, bus and train.
