The daily overnight Padang Besar to Bangkok train number 46 is an all 2nd Class sleeper services that takes 18 hours and 45 minutes to get to Hualamphong Railway Station from the Malaysia border with tickets costing between 870 and 960 THB for an Upper or Lower sleeping berth.

This train replaced the old SRT Butterworth to Bangkok service.

Train number 46 operates with just two carriages from Pdg. Besar to Hat Yai in Southern Thailand, where these two carriages are joined to train number 38 that operates from Sungai Kolok to Bangkok.

Getting to Padang Besar Railway Station

To get to Padang Besar Railway Station (just inside Malaysia on the Thai border), you can take a KTM Komuter Train from Butterworth (and all stations north of Butterworth), or if travelling from further south, you can take an ETS high-speed Electric Train Service to PB.
