The National Museum of Malaysia (Muzium Negara) provides an overview of Malaysian history and culture.

Muzium Negara is a palatial structure built in the style of Rumah Gadang, an aspect of Minangkabau architecture.

National Museum is a three storied structure of 109.7 meters long and 15.1 meters wide and 37.6 meters at the central point.

The museum houses four main galleries allotted to ethnology and natural history.

The displays range from free-standing tableaux showing cultural events like weddings, festivals and costumes; to traditional weapons, musical instruments, arts and crafts, ceramics, and flora and fauna.

The Muzium Negara’s facade comprises elements of traditional Malay and modern features. Opened on 31 August 1963, the National Museum serves as a repository of Malaysia’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

The Museum places strong emphasis on the Malay World, and a considerable section is devoted to the founding of the United Malay National Organisation (UMNO). It also holds regular thematic exhibitions featuring specific aspects of life and world culture.

You can reach Muzium Negara with the folowing transportation options:

KTM Komuter: Take the KTM Komuter and stop at the Kuala Lumpur Komuter station. From the Komuter station, walk pass the Masjid Negara, and follow the road sign, the museum is about 20 minutes walk away.

RapidKL Bus: Take the RapidKL bus B112 from Pasar Seni LRT station. This will drop you at the National Museum.

Go KL City Bus: The Go KL City Bus – Red Line will make stop at National Museum.
