The LATAR (Lebuhraya Assamjawa Taman Rimba) Expressway, aka Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway, is a green field dual-carriageway project linking Templer’s Park in Gombak district to Ijok in Kuala Selangor district.
The 32 km expressway is a faster safer choice of just 18 minutes’ ride between the two ends.

The LATAR Expressway was opened to traffic on 23 June 2011. It is part of the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road and it provides faster, safer, smoother, non-congested drive if compared to the present Jalan Sungai Buloh Kuala Selangor (Federal Road 54).
LATAR Expressway is implementing the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), CCTVs, Variable Message Signboards (VMS), traffic control devices, all weather road markers and emergency telephones to ensure the safety of commuters traversing the expressway.
The LATAR Expressway features five interchanges and three toll plazas on each side of the expressway.
The five interchanges give faster and easy access into the existing Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the future West Coast Highway.
The five interchanges for the LATAR Expressway are as follows:
- Templer’s Park Interchange
- Kuang Interchange
- Kundang Interchange
- Puncak Alam Interchange
- Ijok Interchange
In case of an emergency, the LATAR Expressway features the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), CCTVs, Variable Message Signboards (VMS), traffic control devices, all weather road markers and emergency telephones that ensure the safety of commuters traversing the expressway.
Emergency Telephones (SOS) are provided at 2 km intervals on both sides of the expressway for the LATAR E.X.P.E.R.T. (LATAR Expressway Patrolling and Emergency Response Team).
