View the full KTM Ekspres Rakyat Timetable for rail services from Butterworth station in Penang to JB Sentral railway station in Johor Bahru, close to the border with Singapore.

From JB Sentral, you can continue your journey to Singapore by either
taking one of the new Shuttle Trains or by regular buses that leave from
the station into the city.

This rail service from Penang to Johor Bahru is operated by KTM Berhad (Malaysian railways) on a daily basis.

Seat Classes Available :

This service consist of 2nd and 1st class seats only. All carriages are air-conditioned.

Booking Seats on the Rakyat Express :

Seats for this service can be booked up to 30 days in advance from any
KTMB Intercity railway station in Malaysia or from the KTM office near
the Jetty in Georgetown on Penang island.

If you are staying on Penang Island, the railway station in Butterworth is located just a few minutes walk away from the ferry terminal.

Boats leave from the Jetty in George Town and take around 15 minutes to cross over to the mainland at Butterworth.
